Dawson Resources is a group of companies focused on providing innovative personnel and staffing solutions. We developed a strategic marketing plan, defining the brand identity and selling proposition of each business unit.

We’ve been instrumental in creating and managing the brand architecture of the individual operating units under the Dawson Resources umbrella. This includes name development, visual identities, collateral material, marketing concepts and websites.

BRAND IDENTITY North Market

In order to increase awareness of this renovated historic landmark, Degnen created the North Market brand identity. The essence of the identity is captured in the form of an animated neon sign on the facade. An increased visitor attendance totalling one million customers annually has been directly attributed to this marketing strategy.

Signage elements constructed of found materials and off-the-shelf hardware support the spirit and vitality of the traditional farmer’s market.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT Ohio Bicentennial

In celebration of Ohio’s 200th Birthday, Degnen provided the overall creative design direction for the Ohio Bicentennial Commission’s traveling bell-casting exhibit. This project became the signature event for the entire state, guaranteeing that all 88 Ohio counties would take part in and benefit from the Bicentennial celebration.

We created and directed the eight story high Santa Symphony on the marquee of Radio City Music Hall in New York. For 6 years running, this fully animated musical show became a tradition for both New Yorkers and visitors during the holiday season.

ENTRY PORTAL DESIGN Seton Hall University

Prior to our development of the identity and wayfinding program for Seton Hall University, the campus projected a nondescript image. Our new environmental graphics program reinforces the architectural style of the campus, promotes ease of visitor wayfinding, and projects a unified sense of arrival at the university gate.

BANNER SYSTEM Seton Hall University

To reinforce primary pathways throughout the 58 acre campus, a banner system was implemented featuring images of architectural icons, along with the Seton Hall crest. Special cast medallions where created to commemorate the founding date of the university.

Visitors are greeted with highly visible directional signs, reinforcing the brand image of the university. Based on a system approach to the design, the new signage provides the flexibility to respond to future campus expansion.

Adena, one of Ohio’s leading health systems, sought Degnen’s expertise in a comprehensive rebranding effort. We developed a new naming structure and brand identity for the entire system of hospitals, health centers and outpatient facilities.

Columbus Zoo

African forest EDUCATIONAL CENTER

Degnen provided the creative direction with the development of the African Forest Exhibit, a total- immersive visitor experience. Exhibit presentations, interactive multimedia displays, interpretive signage and thematic wayfinding elements reveal the mystery and vastness of the Central African rainforest.

SYMBOL DEVELOPMENT

In support of the African Forest Region and its’ species, graphic symbols were developed to reinforce the various conservation programs. These icons are interspersed along the Congo Expedition trail, adding to the educational value of the experience.

Reptile logo wall

The opening of the reptile collection, one of the largest of its kind in the world, represents the zoo’s dedication to new ideas for creating dynamic learning spaces. We developed thematic environments, interactive displays and informational graphics to educate and entertain the visitor.

Elevations of signs CONCEPTUAL ILLUSTRATIONS

Three-dimensional models were used to plan visitor circulation patterns. Conceptual illustrations define the content of the total-immersive environments: the desert, water habitats, rainforest, Ohio’s backyard, and learning centers.

We developed the Adopt-An-Animal program, an exterior environmental signage program recognizing patrons who participated in the program. The graphics rely on the use of dimensional representations of various animals that are native to specific regions of the zoo.

We created the overall thematic image and managed the implementation of AmeriFlora, the nation’s largest Quincentennial Festival. Working with Disney team management and Disney’s Imagineering, Degnen developed wayfinding master plans targeted at improving the guest experience through more effective signage, information presentation and graphic enhancement of the park’s attractions, restaurants and retail venues.

In addition to our work at Disney’s theme parks, we’ve developed similar guidelines for The Contemporary Resort and Convention Center, Disney’s Port Orleans, The Polynesian Resort and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel. These identity master plans are used to budget and schedule future upgrades for the resorts and parks.
